Village bakery and OK products
The Village Bakery is now under the ownership of Bells of Lazonby and have just built a dedicated gluten-free bakery to make more of their delicious cakes and biscuits

Provamel Mousses
I was surprised to see in my local store, rather than the supermarket, 3 flavours of a 4-pack of gluten and dairy free mousses. There are Vanilla, hazelnut and chocolate flavours and they are light but just solid enough to be an ideal filler for ready-made small meringue nests. This is a very quick and easy pudding for any age group. Chill in the deepfreeze for 1 hour and just before serving, pile raspberries or sliced strawberries on top. Alternatively, grate thick curls of dark continental chocolate over the top and serve with some chocolate sauce for the ultimate indulgence!
The Dietary Alert Card: A wonderfully simple idea that I wish I had thought of!
Dietary card produce convenient credit-card size cards, printed on lightweight plastic, which carries an explanation of specific dietary requirements printed in English on one side of the card with a translation in the language of your choice on the other
Just give the card to the waiter so your request can be quickly, accurately and discretely passed to the chief. Brilliant when you are traveling overseas (and invaluable in some English speaking restaurants too!)

Gluten-Free Biscuits
I'm delighted that Sainsbury's have recently produced a new range of gluten-free products that includes two biscuits: Coconut and raspberry cookies and Coconut cookies with a chocolate flavour coating. These are absolutely delicious. Crunchy and firm (you will find these in the biscuit section, not in the health zone!)
Tesco have also produced their own brand of gluten free coconut cookies which are also delicious and can be found in the normal biscuit section
These can also be crushed to make a wonderful biscuit crust for a cheesecake base. This is the first time I have been able to achieve these results with any ready-made biscuits
More Gluten-Free Sausages!
Musks of Newmarket, Suffolk (suppliers of sausages to the Queen!) are now making excellent gluten-free sausages made with their secret blend of spices, as used in the famous Newmarket sausage

Allergy care ( www.gfdiet.com ) are now selling in selected Sainsbury supermarkets a variety of sweets (candies) such as chocolate beans (rather like Smarties) which are gluten-, wheat- and dairy-free and without any artificial colours or preservatives. I've put them on to fairy cakes and birthday cakes. They taste delicious and children love them!

Sainsbury have launched a new range of gluten-free sausages. The Rich Venison and Redcurrent sausages contain 90% coarsely chopped meat and The Classic Sicilian Style sausages contain 83% meat
Oskri Organics
Oskri have produced a delicious gluten-free organic sesame bar which is made with date syrup - a great snack or delicious crumbled onto vanilla ice cream

Organix brands founder and children's food campaigner is calling for the government to review legislation relating to gluten in early weaning foods as the debate surrounding its potential effects on infants grows. Organix has announced that it is to remove all gluten-containing products from its stage 1 and stage 2 weaning foods. 50 baby food recipes have been endorsed by Allergy UK and Coeliac UK
